Although Mychael has lent his creativity to many fortune 500 corporations after graduating from The College of Modern Design with a degree in Design and Illustration, he is equally known for his detailed large format black and white Scratchboard fine art pieces. Considered a form of etching utilizing everything from surgical scalpels to razor blades, he often considers his style as the Art of Taking away.

Born in Dayton Ohio but based out of the highly creative city of Detroit, Mychael has exhibited throughout the Midwest. The pieces explore themes that are deeply engrained in the cultural fabric of the African American experience. From the beautiful to the painful. The adorable to the tragic. This recently was on full display at Art Basel Miami at the Scope art show with his award winning piece “Wrung Out” focusing on the Flint water crisis which was also highlighted online for Vogue Magazine.

Being influenced early by Norman Rockwell and Ernie Barnes, It’s all about the art of storytelling for Mychael. Instead of religiously lugging around the bag of crayons like he did as kid in order to share those stories with others, now he’s moved on to sharing those stories -  one scratch at a time.
